Foreclosure Does NOT Impact Your Right To Vote!

There’s lots of confusion out there whether you can still vote if your home has been foreclosed. Yes you can!

Keep in mind that while each state has its own regulations and rules on who can vote, there are some general guidelines if your home has been foreclosed that you can follow to vote tomorrow:

  • If a foreclosure on your home has caused you to move,  you must re-register if you’ve changed counties or states. However, if you moved within your county it’s a simpler exercise– just update your address.
  • Many states will allow you to update your change of address up until Election Day. Otherwise, ask for a provisional ballot.
  • If your home foreclosure has begun, but you are still living in your home and are already registered to vote in that precinct, just go and vote as normal.
  • If the foreclosure process is complete and you’ve moved out, you need to update your new address (see above).
  • If you’ve not yet established a new, permanent residence at which to register to vote, many states will allow you to use your prior address of the foreclosed home.

So don’t let foreclosure keep you from voting! To check the rules in your state, go to the US Election Assistance Commission website.

A Reminder From Carolinas Realty Partners: Don’t Forget To Vote On Tuesday, November 2nd!

I’ve always liked to wait until Election Day to vote! Even though millions have already voted, there’s something about the atmosphere of voting on Election Day! I remember going with my mother in the 1950′s to the polling station and watching her vote and always thinking I couldn’t wait to grow up and vote myself!  Of course, bath in the 1950′s there was no such thing as early voting–everyone voted on Election Day, so maybe that’s why I always feel like it’s a holiday and a special day.  As an immigrant to this country, I consider voting a true privilege and not something to be taken lightly. So here’s my reminder to you to vote tomorrow, if you haven’t already done so.

If you need information on where to go vote, www.Vote411.org  is a great resource. Google Maps also make it easy to figure out where to vote. So now you have no excuse not to go out and vote!

If you’ve somehow missed out on getting registered to vote this year, don’t miss out next year. The Easy Voter Guide is a great resource on how to sign up, get informed, and vote!

Today Is National Coffee Day!

Coffee Beans

Today is National Coffee Day! Of course, in my house, it’s coffee day everyday! I’ve never been able to figure out how anyone starts their day without at least one cup of coffee! And it seems that I’m not the only one who depends on that “cup o’ Joe” to get my day off to a good start.

The 2010 Filterfresh Coffee Report revealed an astounding fact: 54% of those who responded to their survey said they’d give up their cell phones before giving up their daily coffee. I can relate to that, as I would too! Some other interesting statistics from this report:
  • 59% of those surveyed drink two to three cups of coffee each day.
  • 72% of those surveyed said coffee helps improve their mental focus.
  • 82% of those surveyed say coffee is not a meal replacement.
  • 90% of those surveyed said they drink coffee in the morning and 72% drink it with co-workers. 30% said they wouldn’t meet with their boss before having a cup of coffee!

A survey commissioned by Dunkin Donuts and Career Builder provides the following statistics about coffee drinkers:

  • 32% of those surveyed said they need coffee to get their day started.
  • 43% of those surveyed said they are less productive at work if they don’t drink coffee while at work.

As to those professionals who drink the most coffee to get their jobs done:

  • Nurses
  • Doctors
  • Hotel workers
  • Designers/Architects
  • Financial/Insurance Sales Representatives
  • Food Preparers
  • Engineers
  • Teachers
  • Marketing/PR Professionals
  • Scientists
  • Machine Operators
  • Government Workers

It’s hard to think of which professionals may have been left out! Do you recognize yourself in these statistics?

In any case, have a Happy Coffee Day and if you need information about where to get great coffee in Charlotte, North Carolina contact Carolinas Realty Partners! Meantime, I’m off to celebrate with an extra cup!
